At Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, on August 3, took place international conference inaugurating the school of intellectual property rights “Intellectual Property Law School – Fashion + New Media”, organized by ELSA Poznan. One of the patrons of the conference was JWP Patent & Trademark Attorneys . Tomasz Gawliczek from JWP gave a lecture on the importance of european law industrial designs for the fashion industry. The conference was attended by representatives of the academic community and professionals specializing in issues of intellectual property rights. The participants of the school’s intellectual property rights are law students and young lawyers from all over Europe.
On the next day, Thomas Gawliczek also conducted practical workshops on conflict of trademarks concerning well-known brands of perfume. During the workshops, participants struggled among others with the issues of: assessing similarity of the marks, the grounds for invalidity of trademarks or the repute of the marks based on a case study prepared for example brands such as Chanel, Armani, Dior and Gucci.
