A utility model, also called a ‘petty patent’, is a new and useful technical solution pertaining to the shape, construction, or composition of an item with a durable form. A utility model is considered to be a useful solution if it allows the achievement of a practical goal in the manufacture or use of products.
A utility model refers to tangible objects with a durable form, so they cannot be used for protection of such solutions as procedures or uses of a substance.
Utility models receive protective rights (not patents).
