World Intellectual Property Day [World IP Day] is a holiday established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), celebrated on April 26 every year since 2001. It was established in 2000 and was elected to commemorate the entry into force of the Convention establishing WIPO in 1970. The purpose of this day is to show the public how patents, copyrights, trademarks, industrial designs and utility models influence on daily life, as well as raise awareness of existing intellectual property rights. The essence of this project is also encouraging the public to respect the intellectual property rights of others and display creativity and contribution by the creators and innovators to the development of societies around the world.
